Upon defeating an armed Black Oak, the player can pick up their weapon and use it themselves. Their exclusive Dark Hammers also let them block attacks. The Black Oaks are usually equipped with one of several types of weapons to use against the player, such as long-ranged firearms to attack the player from far away, or short-ranged swords which they use swiftly but also leave them open to attacks. In gameplay, they will occasionally drop into the player's path through Warp Hole-like points or Black Arms Gunships. However, statues of them appear in Glyphic Canyon and Sky Troops and hides Black Swords.īlack Oaks are incredibly tough opponents, taking about twelve Homing Attacks to destroy just one of them. The Black Oaks appear in a majority of the later levels, the first being Central City. They also have sharp claws on both their hands and feet. They have nasty dark green skin, with red color starts from the humerus to the end of their hands, and from their ankles to their feet.

Black Oaks are muscular versions of the Black Warriors.
